Manager, Workplace Safety and Health and Regulatory

Job Duties:
• Incumbent will take in a leadership role in reviewing, developing, and implementing WSH policies and procedures as well as regulatory and quality.
• Monitor the effectiveness of the WSH \ Quality Management procedures and ensure all legal and contractual requirements are fulfilled.
• Ensure corrective actions on audits are undertaken eg legislation, certification, project and management system compliance.
• Ensure key WSH and Quality / Regulatory programs are actioned by local\regional project managers in accordance with agreed time frames.
• Steer in house audit with Head of Department and employees about safety issues and risks.
• Providing leadership in developing measures and practices that prevent accidents and ensure compliance of WSH standards and regulatory compliance framework etc.
• Advise on a range on regional workplace regulatory and safety and health issues.
• Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are properly implemented.
• Maintain a clear communication plan for all WSH requirements and best practices within the organisation.
• Engage with a number of stakeholders across the organisation/region in various operational and functional areas.
• Ensuring local / regional managers and supervisors adopt appropriate safety and health work practices, accident mitigation measures and instituting investigations.

Requirements:
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role and a track record of implementation of workplace health and safety management system preferably in a regional capacity.
• Strong project management and leadership skills
• High degree of commitment and a good team lead with strong people engagement skills.
• Able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
• Must be able to identify and interpret WSH and Compliance policies and procedures as well as communicate effectively within the project team / organisation/ regional offices.
• Encourage constructive questioning of WSH , regulatory and quality policies and practices.
